2025 POLAR BEAR 5K Run/Hike/Bring the Dog ONLINE registration

Dates to remember:

1/5/2023  – Last day of $30 – EXTENDED to 1/14/2023

1/13/2023 – Last day of online registration at 10 pm.

1/14/2023 – Early and Optional Packet pick-up at Lancaster County Motors Subaru 9 am – 12 noon – 1705 Manheim Pike

1/15/2023 – The RACE!

A couple of things to remember when signing up – no really READ THIS:

  1. When you click “Submit” if you haven’t filled in all of the required fields, you will just be sent back to the sign-up page and you’ll have to search through each required field to figure out what you have missed (I’m sorry I haven’t figured out how to make it tell you what required fields you missed.)
  2. If everything is OK after you click “Submit”, you will get a screen that reads, “You have successfully submitted information to Sierra Club.” and you will see the “Buy Now” button. That is when you can pay online – click the button and pay by Pay Pal or Credit Card. If you don’t want to pay online, send a check to Sierra Club – Lancaster Group. PO BOX 8344, Lancaster, PA 17608-8344; on the memo line, please indicate that you signed up online and under what name. Memo line could read something like: PB Online, Me & Bob Smith.
  3. IF you are signing up more than one person, please pay for more than one person.

HOPING FOR THIS: For Sunday at 10 am (race start) Weather.com is predicting: A  perfect 35 degree day!
NO matter what the weather, it will be a beautiful day to run, hike or walk your dog in the park! 
 
1. Check-in starts at 8:30 am.
2. Parking is at 826 Eshelman Mill Rd., Lancaster PA 17602: as you enter the park from any direction follow the signs AND look for the folks in orange vests. There is a bus that will take you from the designated parking areas to pavilion 22. Shuttle bus service starts around 8:15/30 am. 
    2a. Please arrive before 9:30 am in order to catch a shuttle, register, and be at the start on-time.
3. There is a bag/coat/water bottle check.
4. In order to promote sustainability, please bring your own water bottle and use our recycling bins!
5. There will be water, turkey hill drinks, and snacks. We typically have bananas, coffee, hot chocolate, granola bars, cookies, bagels, and dog biscuits!
6. There is a map of the race in the pavilion AND at www.lancastersierraclub.com.
7. Please, don’t forget our wonderful, caring sponsors! 
8. Please allow yourself enough time for the bus ride, to pick up your bibs, and to get to the starting line, see 2a above.
9. Woot, woot – see you soon!
10. In order to stay as safe as possible we will be restricting the number of people allowed in the Pavilion to 25 (not including volunteers). Both doors will remain open and we will have disposal masks that we are asking everyone to wear

This is our biggest fundraiser of the year.
This fun trail/hike winds through Lancaster County Central Park.
Race Check-In/Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on race day. Walk-ins welcome!

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the overall top three male & female runners and the top three male & female runners in each age category. The first three finishers with dogs will also receive prizes. And then there are the miscellaneous fun prizes. because we Sierrans are fun!

Registration and Fees:

‘Early Dog’ pricing SAVES you $5.  EARLY Dog has been extended until 1/14. 1/13 online closes at 10 pm. 1/14 you can sign-up in person at the EARLY & Optional packet pick-up. This totally optional EARLY PACKET PICK-UP is for your convenience: Saturday, 14th 9 am to Noon at Lancaster County Motors Subaru, 1705 Manheim Pike, Lancaster.

Online registration at $35 is open until 1/13 at 10 pm (used to be midnight, but we are getting older) – – we need time to get your bibs ready. If you are mailing your check or your registration, please have them postmarked by January 10th.

If you “Let sleeping dogs lie” and you don’t register until race day, it will cost you $35.
